Word Attack Assessment  

This test is most appropriate for upper grade students (4th and 5th grade). However, first graders should begin to decode two syllable words in the second half of the year.

Here are some multisyllabic words that ask students to use word attack skills to decode:

Students should be able to read at least sixteen words correctly. If they are unable to read five or more words correctly then they could benefit from some instruction in how to attack longer words.
