Blending Activities |

If children need help with oral blending, frequently give children sounds to put together to make words.
Make a game or a song out of it to make it fun. Have a puppet make the sounds and ask students to put them together
For blending written words, teachers can write words sound by sound and have students slowly put the sounds together
If students continue to have difficulty, you can have children blend words starting with the vowel sound in the word.
As students start learning long vowels, it's important to emphasize the role of vowel combinations on changing the sounds of vowels.
